About

The guy behind the polisher

Driveway Details is one person — me, Nate. Every quote you get, every text you send and every car on the gallery page goes through the same set of hands. Here is how that came to be.

The start

I learned this trade on boats

Before Driveway Details existed, I worked in professional marine detailing. Boats are an unforgiving classroom: gelcoat oxidizes in the sun, salt eats everything it touches, and the surfaces are huge, curved and expensive to get wrong. That is where I learned to run a machine polisher properly, to read a surface before touching it, and to work clean and methodically for hours at a stretch — because on a boat, a shortcut shows.

Somewhere along the way I noticed a pattern: I was spending more of my time and attention perfecting my own car than wanting to clean boats. The obsession had picked its subject. So I took everything marine work taught me — the machine skills, the surface knowledge, the patience — and pointed it at what I actually love: cars.

The enthusiasm

Cars first, business second

I am a car enthusiast before I am a detailer. The reason this business exists is that I could not walk past a swirled black hood without wincing, and I could not stop chasing that moment when a panel comes up under the light and the reflection goes hard and clean. That is also why I would rather do one car properly than three cars quickly — and why the Thunderbirds and weekend cars on my gallery page are my favorite calls to get.

One car at a time

No crew, no rushing to the next job in the lot. Your car gets the whole appointment and my full attention, start to walkaround.

Your driveway, my equipment

Water, power, polishers, lights and product all come with me. You lend me a parking spot; I bring the rest.

Honest recommendations

If your car needs a wash and not a correction, I will say so. I would rather earn the next ten bookings than oversell the first one.

The schedule

The WPI part

I am a finance student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, class of 2028. That is the reason for the schedule you see everywhere on this site: weekday evenings from 5 to 9, and full days on weekends. It is not a limitation so much as a design — the big jobs get unhurried weekend daylight, and the maintenance work slots neatly into evenings.

It also means something practical for you: I am building a reputation, not coasting on one. Every review, every referral and every repeat booking matters to me personally, and the work is priced and delivered accordingly.

The future

Where this is going

I have big plans, and I am not in a hurry to shortcut any of them. Whatever comes next, the standard stays the same: show up when I say I will, treat every car like it is mine, and leave each driveway with the best-looking vehicle on the street. The craft came first, and the craft stays.
